Overall Cover

During our research we have found out that most Cd's will have the name of the artist stated on the album cover and sometimes the name of the album or single. An album may also have a track list on the back of the CD. As well as the artist information, the copyright terms are stated on the back of the CD or in the CD insert. The record company and production company are credited in the same area, the record company usually includes their logo on the CD . The CD also contains a bar code for retail purposes. Websites are added of the artist and companies to give information to the consumer or for the consumer. We added the song track list on the CD to add a realistic look on the CD, after researching some Cd's we made a disclaimer by the company RCA Label, the websites of the record company and artist were added on the back of the CD.
We used the programme Adobe Photoshop to manipulate our own photograph of the main character onto the album cover. We decided to use a mid shot of our artist as the focus is mainly on her, consumers would immediately gain recognition by her name clearly aligned in the at the center. The photo was used as a background layer once the brightness and curve levels were adjusted to the right level. The burn tool was used to define certain areas for example the eyes an the dodge tool was used to highlight. Text layers were then added and placed. To add a professional effect on the text, we decided to add an outer glow to the artists name to emphasise her name belongs to someone famous. The type of font used was called 'Champagne &Limousines' we wanted to use a sans- serif font to keep to a simple style of presenting the artist. The mise en scene of the album cover shows the artist in front of a red brick wall and standing on snow. The brick wall represents seriousness of the song or theme of relationships and love, the snow is juxtaposed against the wall, the snow represents innocence in relationships and the girls past. We added the song track list to the CD to add a realistic look on the CD, after researching some Cd's we made a disclaimer by the company RCA Label, the websites of the record company and the artist was also put on the back.

A CD Example:

For our advertisement we have used the same type of location, a long shot is used to establish the location and this shot allows people to see her. The genre of the song is pop, the music videos of the pop genre usually contains scenes emphasising on fashion and style, we have thought through on the audiences interests and decided to use designer clothes in the photo. In the advert we have tried to create this effect by showing her full length in a simple location so that the audience will not lose attention on her. We have used the same text but located it beside her mainly because the advertisement is to show the artist herself. We added a bold effect onto the text to make it stand out from the bright snow and weathered wall. For the inside of the CD we used the colour of light blue to keep the theme of simplicity, we did not want a colour too harsh like red. A photo of a cherry tree was added to match a line in the song. Lyrics were added, we used Adobe Illustrator to create the a spiral effect to make it loo like the words are being spoken from the artists mind. We have decided to put logos of some music stores to show the types of technolgy in which the CD can be purchased from for example the album on itunes can be purchased online and downloaded.
